By the end of this worksheet, you’ll be able to send, read, and reply to a text message with confidence.

  1. Open Messages
  • Find the green icon with a speech bubble.
  • Tap it once to open.

  1. Start a New Message
  • Tap the square-and-pencil button (usually top-right corner).
  • In the “To:” box, type your own phone number or the name of a contact.

  1. Write Your First Text
  • Tap in the message box at the bottom.
  • Type: “Hello, this is my first text.”
  • Tap the blue arrow to send.

  1. Add an Emoji
  • Tap the smiley face icon on the keyboard.
  • Choose any emoji (😊, ❤️, 👍).
  • Tap the blue arrow to send.

  1. Send a Photo
  • Tap the camera icon next to the text box.
  • Choose “Take Photo” or “Photo Library.”
  • Select a picture and tap Send.

  1. Read a Message
  • When you receive a reply, tap the conversation to open it.
  • Read the bubble.
  • If it’s blue → you sent it. If it’s gray → they sent it.

  1. Reply to a Message
  • Tap in the box.
  • Type a short reply like: “Got it, thank you!”
  • Tap the blue arrow to send.

  1. Send yourself a text saying: “Good morning!”
  2. Add one emoji to your message.
  3. Take a photo of something nearby and send it.
  4. Reply to your own text with: “All done!”
