Title: Sharing Photos with Family and Friends

Welcome back! In the last lesson, you learned how to view and organize your photos. Now you know how to find your favorite memories and keep them neatly arranged.

Today, we’ll take it a step further and learn how to share photos with others. This is one of the most rewarding things you can do with your phone — sending a picture of your garden, a family event, or even a selfie to someone you love.

By the end of this lesson, you’ll know how to:

  • Share a photo through text messages
  • Share a photo through email
  • Share a photo on apps like WhatsApp or Facebook

Step 1: Sharing Photos by Text Message

Texting is one of the simplest ways to send a photo.

  1. Open your Photos app.
  2. Tap the photo you want to share.
  3. Look for the Share icon (it looks like three dots connected by lines or an arrow pointing upward).
  4. Tap it, then select Messages.
  5. Choose the contact you want to send it to.
  6. Tap Send.

👉 Quick Tip: The person will receive both your photo and a message notification.

Step 2: Sharing Photos by Email

If you want to send photos to someone who doesn’t text often, email is a good option.

  1. Open your Photos app.
  2. Select the photo you want.
  3. Tap the Share icon.
  4. Choose Email (this might be called Gmail or Outlook, depending on your phone).
  5. A new email will open with the photo already attached.
  6. Type the person’s email address and a short message, then tap Send.

👉 Quick Tip: For large numbers of photos, it’s best to send 2–3 at a time so the email doesn’t get too big.

Step 3: Sharing Photos on WhatsApp

If you use WhatsApp, sharing photos is quick.

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Select the conversation with the person you want to send to.
  3. Tap the paperclip icon (for attachments).
  4. Tap Gallery or Photos.
  5. Select the picture, then tap the Send button (green arrow).

👉 Quick Tip: You can even send multiple photos at once by selecting more than one before tapping send.

Step 4: Sharing Photos on Facebook

Facebook lets you share photos with many people at once.

  1. Open Facebook.
  2. At the top, tap “Photo.”
  3. Select the photo you want from your gallery.
  4. Add a caption if you’d like (for example, “First roses of the season!”).
  5. Tap Post.

Your friends on Facebook will now see your photo, and they can like or comment on it.

Step 5: Practice Together

Let’s practice step by step:

  1. Open your Photos app and pick one picture you like.
  2. Share it with a family member using text message.
  3. Share a different picture by email.
  4. (Optional) Post one photo on Facebook or send one through WhatsApp.

After a few tries, sharing photos will feel just as natural as making a phone call.

Real-Life Example

I once worked with a senior named Ruth who was nervous about using her phone for more than calling. After learning how to share photos, she sent a picture of her dog to her grandson. A few minutes later, he sent back a big smiley face. She told me, “I never knew I could make him smile from miles away — this makes me feel connected.”

Another student, George, started sharing photos of his fishing trips with friends through WhatsApp. He said, “It’s like I’m right there with them, even if I’m not.”

Sharing photos turns your phone into a bridge between you and your loved ones.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • The photo won’t send: Check that you’re connected to Wi-Fi or have mobile data turned on.
  • It says the file is too large: Resize the photo or send fewer at a time.
  • I sent the wrong photo: Don’t worry — just send a quick message saying it was a mistake, then send the correct one.
  • I can’t find the Share button: Look for the icon with three dots connected, or an arrow pointing upward.

Step 6: Staying Mindful When Sharing

It’s wonderful to share, but a few safety reminders:

  • Share only with people you trust.
  • Avoid posting private details (like your address) in photos online.
  • Remember that once something is online, it can spread quickly — so think before posting.

Wrap-Up & Next Steps

Let’s review:

  • You can share photos through text messages, email, WhatsApp, or Facebook.
  • The process always starts by selecting the photo, tapping the Share icon, and choosing where to send it.
  • Sharing photos is a beautiful way to stay close to family and friends.

Your take-action tool for today:

  • Choose one favorite photo and send it to a loved one by text message.
  • Choose one more and send it by email.
  • (Optional) Post one photo on Facebook or send one in WhatsApp.

In the next lesson, we’ll learn how to edit photos — making them brighter, cropping them, or even adding fun filters.

Great job today — you’re now ready to share your memories with the people who matter most.

I’ll see you in Module 4, Lesson 4: Editing Photos (Brightness, Cropping, Filters).
